A few posts ago I spoke about my friend Pam and her son, Adam, who was 18 years old, in the United States Army, stationed in Fort Benning, GA and passed away in death. Though his death was classified as a suicide by the goverment....he is believed to have been murdered. I also spoke about a letter that Pam had obtained written by her son prior to his death. This letter is believed, but Pam,her family, and I and countless others the reason he was murdered.
The letter itself is rather long and will take a few post entries to complete. Adam's story and his fear DESERVE to be heard....and told regardless of what consequences may ensue after this......This is for you Adam.

Dear Sir,

I am a service memember on Active Duty in the United States Army, assigned to HHC Company, 1st Battalion, 30th Infantry, 3rd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division (Mechanized), at Fort Benning, Georgia. I am writing to you today because I am in great distress and I have exhausted all other means of solving this situation, so as my last resort I wish to request your assistant in this matter. My chain of comman has advised me against getting you involved in this situation. They have told me that by contacting you, I would get myself into alot of trouble with the higher officers in command, chances are you wouldn't do anything anyway, and that even if you chose to intervene, they would feed you some story, and you would back off.
Nevertheless, I have been advised by a high ranking officer (not in this unit), that you may be my onle resort, so I contact youtoday, because I have faith in the system, and faith in you, as my elected representative.

I joined the Army at Seattle MEPS, On January 7th,2002; one day after my 17th birthday, and then shipped off to basic training less than a month later. I successfully completed Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, SC and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Knox, KY. I arrived at my current unit on 00 February 2003. I spent the first part of my military career as any new soldier would. The unit was tough, but I caught onto the enviroment and the training. I was a very motivated soldier with a "go-get-it" attitude. I came to work on time, with a highly pressed uniform and a mirror shine on my boots. I learned my job and I did it well. I had few misunderstandings with NCO's in the begining, which they considered disrespect. However, I corrected my behavior and drove on. After a while, I was training soldiers below me on how to do their jobs. What I am trying to convey, sir, is that I believe I have been an excellent soldier. I joined for the purpose of bettering myself, and perhaps doing something meaningful for my country.

I read your speech online, dated 05 March 2003, in regards to the war in Iraq, and I wanted you to know that it is very compelling. A point struck out at me, where you mentioned that all these services members deployed overseas were young men, "Just Boys". Sir, I want you to know that I was one of those boys. On January 2004, exactly one month after my 18th birthday, I boarded an airplane, and deployed to Kuwait, where we trained intensely for months before crossing the boarder into Iraq on 21 March 2003.
