"When I Die.....I May Not Go To Heaven" It's a song people....not a thought of mine

Tanya Tucker
Tanya Tucker

My mother and my grandmother used to always remind me of the first song that I ever started singing. I was four years old and the song was "Delta Dawn". Sitting in the front of the grocery cart, swinging my legs, being wheeled aisle to aisle, driving everyone crazy with "Delta Dawn....What's That Flower You Got On>" My mom says my grandmother would always joke and say "I don't know what kind of damn flower it is...but I wish he'd figure it the hell out and move on," LOL.

Tanya has that raspy raw voice that I love in singers. As a kid, I remember watching her on The John Davidson Talk Show She performed "Should I Do It". My god...The John Davidson Show.....How long ago has THAT been?????

Tanya attempted to achieve the same cross over success that Dolly Parton was having at the time. It didn't work. NOBODY can do the things that Dolly Parton does. Tanya is fondly remembered by most as that good little 13 year old who went......BAD. Turning Nashville on it's ears with the seductive, sassy pose she striked on her TNT album. It just wasn't done at that time. That's is what made it all so shocking. So, was hooking up with a man (Glen Campbell) who was twice your age. She was country music's scandal.

But, Tanya Tucker and her singing did have an impact on me. It was the first song that I ever sang. The second was "Rhinestone Cowboy". LOL
