Oh Good Golly....Dolly Is Still A Hottie
When I think of the two women who have inspired my life in some way, excluding family. It is number #1. Stevie Nicks.
The second........the amazing gifted and talented singer songwriter.....Dolly Parton.
Dolly Parton....The Queen Of Country Music
She is, in my lifetime, the greatest storyteller of all. No one can write a song better than Dolly. Every word in every lyric is placed just right. There is never a word in any song she has penned that is not vital or needed to tell the story.
I have watched every movie she has ever starred in. The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas is my all time fave.
My mother says that when she took my grandmother to the movie theatre to see it...my grandmother was basically crawling UNDER the theatre seats attemtping to sheild herself from embarrassment. LOL. I would have paid anything to see that!!!!
One of Dolly's mass appeal is the fact that she has the type of persona that makes one feel that you actually know her personally. She is bubbly, cute and sweet as apple pie. I remember the first time I saw Dolly Parton in concert. I was a senior in highschool and she was on tour with Kenny Rogers. My friend,Billie Jean, and I ran through the Hampton Colesium to see her exit the stage and go around the side area where you could see the entrance to her dressing room, by standing up on some stairs. When she appeared we started screaming and she looked directly at us and waved and smiled. Then, she began asking someone to please get her some bottled water because the water there was chlorinated and she couldn't drink it for fear of messing up her voice. The one thing I still can remember clearly from that time seeing her is that she was soooo tiny. But sooooo "Big" (breasts).
But Dolly Parton is a true ICON. She was the first female country music based singer to cross over to pop music, disco (Baby I'm Burning),movies and books successfully and has paved the way for so many. She still turns Nashville on its ears from time to time. Dueting with out gay stars Boy George (Your Kisses Are Charity) and Melissa Ethridge (CMT Special). When asked if same sex marriage should be permitted Dolly reply's. "Hell yeah.....why shouldn't they be made to suffer like the rest of us". Nobody can out do Dolly. Glad to have her on our side too.
