I have said it before and I will say it again.....The Brits know good music and America could heed to taking lessons. Many artists who Americans consider to be "One Hit Wonders" are still making great music and are massively successful in the UK. One such talented artist is an absolute fave of mine, Gabrielle.
Gabrielle had a dance hit here in the states in the early 1990's with a single entitled "Dreams" (Dreams, can come true, look at me babe I got you, you know you've got to have hope, you know you've got to be strong). During that period, it was impossible to venture into any gay club and NOT hear that song atleast once in a particular evening.

Whle in the UK visiting my sister, Carla, about four years ago we were in the car heading into London for a day of shopping when I heard a song playing on Radio One. "I know that voice", I said as I listened. I said to Carla, "WE have to find this song while in PickADilly Square. It is absolutely beautiful. Carla said "Sure, I know that song, the song is called "Rise" and the singer is some girl named Gabrielle". I was floored. I couldn't believe this. I had forgotten all about her. That day while shopping I found the CD, aptly entitled "Rise", and the entire cd was awesome. I also found out Gabrielle was currently then on the UK charts at #1 with both the album and the single. I have played this cd Rise many many times since first getting it and it is awesome.

Yesterday, Mark suprised me with a gift when he arrived home. "Amazon.Com?" I said as I looked at the packaged? Mark, in his normal approach of calmness said "Ronnie, just open the damn thing!" Such a romantic. LOL. I opened the package to find Gabrielle's NEW cd entitled Play To Win. Her first in four years since "Rise was released.
Her voice is soooo soothing, mellow and different. Her song writing amazes me still. It is such a shame that the majority of America has NO CLUE to what they are missing. This album is a must have. I don't care how you get it just get it. Go on Amazon, ebay whatever. You will NOT be disappointed.
