Don't ask what is happening to me...because I really do NOT know.
All I know is that I have become more and more interested in the on going's of Politics. A few years ago, hell, even one year ago, I could care less. I watched the television debates last night between our current President (and I saw that with a cringe) and Mr. John Kerry. Personally, I truly feel that Kerry, who was selected to begin the debate, opened the gate extremely strong and ran with it all the way to the end. An MSN poll, shown earlier today, exhibited the same results.
Everyone says how George Bush values family, values "morals", yet, it wasn't he who quoted any scripture from the BIBLE, it was infact, Kerry.
Another thing, Kerry when answering a question directed to the people of the United States, was the ONLY 0NE who actually looked into the eye of the camera and spoke directly to America. Mr. Bush however, clearly exhibited his nervousness by constantly sipping water from his cup as Kerry answered questions when it was either his turn or retort. I don't know...maybe he was thirsty or they have damn great tasting water there in Arizona.
Yes, they both do not agree to gay marriage. So the fuck what. Atleast Kerry believes that it should be entirely the choice of the TWO people in the committed relationship, regardless if that relationship consists of two same genders and not the state as to who they will property to, go and see in the hospitol or what have you.
African American's had a decade of struggle after being "freed" as slaves by Abraham Lincoln. It wasn't until the mid 1900's that segregation was inforced. So, yes, gay marriage may not happen with Kerry, but the important focus here is that atleast he is agreeing for us, the gay community, to have some rights and say. Now, please keep in mind that I am NOT saying that the struggle of Arican Americans is the same as the gay community. It is not. Their struggles then and now are very different and their own. I am not comparing one to the other. Gay individuals have never expierenced the struggle of slavery. But the one common factor between the two IS prejudicy. I recently heard a female African American comic on BET state that until a gay person knows what is it is like to be hung from a tree for disobeying their master they can not compare the two. What I can say is that no our community has never been punished that way for such an event....but we DO know what it is like to KILLED for being who you are. Ok, so I will stop my rambling about the debate and etc. Just wanted to voice my opinion and thoughts on it.
Disciple Class is going well. We are now venturing into our 7th class and I have, as yet, NOT missed one Thursday evening class OR failed to do my homework every night. I truly feel this helping me grow as an individual and as a partner in a committed, monogamous relationship.
I still have yet to smoke. I will FINALLY be able to speak next week. I have slipped once in a while without thinking and have spoken. Only to suddenly remember I can't. During one of those moments, Mark replied after hearing my voice....."DAMN...your voice has NEVER sounded THAT deep before." LOL
I hope everyone is well. Stay safe, and much love........Ronnie
