Having spoken in a previous post about my begining "Disciple 1 " class, I felt compelled to elaborate a bit to you on what it is that I am doing every thursday evening and the indepth reading and studying Iam having to do that is required. Here is a brief discription of the class:

"Disciple I"

Deuteronomy Group

Becoming Disciples through Bible study is an intensive 34 week course for Christians who want to develop strong leadership through the study of scripture. The courses are aimed not just at information but at transformation. Participants will purchase workbooks and will meet once a week in groups for study, prayer, and fellowship. The purpose of Disciple is to "equip the saints for the world of ministry, for building up the body of Christ."(Ephesians 4:12) Led by our Associate Pastor, Rev. Maria Luna-Wolfe and assisted by Pastor Marty Luna-Wolfe. This class requires sign-up & begins in September 9, 2004.

Yes, everyone who knew me or knows me.. knew that I was a practicing Wiccan. My religion has changed. I am now at peace with God and Jesus Christ and a born again christian. Seeing The Passion Of The Christ totally opened my eyes....most importantly, I am a born again GAY & HOMOSEXUAL christian. I belong to a non denominitional church called MCC. Metropolitan Community Church. It is a church for Gay, Lesbian and Transgendered individuals but not excluded to. We have many Heterosexual couples who attend as well.
The basic motto for my church is to "reach, teach and empower through Jesus Christ". I was raised a christian as a child but after the loss of my grandmother at twelve years old, i was bitter and turned my back on God and his love. Now, I am no Bible beater by any means. I believe that every religion has a basic "God" that they bow down and surrender to...for myself....this is mine. I have forgiven, been fogiven and try everyday to live my life to the absolute best. No, I am not perfect. I am actually far from perfect, but I try.

This Disciple class has really taught me what it is to feel part of a community. Every week we have lesson plans, are assigned prayer partners and are getting to not only know the scriptures but also know one another and everyone's "stories". I have always said that everyone has a story to tell, listen openly and you will probably learn a thing or two. Every one has hardship's and dillemma's.
I have to admit that since doing this class, I have become especially close to a few individuals in my class. We have endured and conquered the same problems that have arisen in our lives....and they have become family for me in a sense. Even when my assigned prayer partner contacts me (right now it is through email since I can't speak), I still contact those special friends within the class to check in on them and make sure that all is going ok with them. I am really enjoying this. I am doing my lesson plans day to day as are assigned. For once, I feel part of a community and am amongst friends who totally "Get me, understand me" and don't judge me.
We all joined the class because we are searching for something and wanting to know the reason for the dillemas that come our way and our reason for living. I think we have. We have found strength in and with each other. This has truly been a blessing for me...and Michelle, I am using the BIBLE you gave to me in remembrance of your grandmother as I promised I would for this class. It has helped me tremendously. Mark, is enjoying the class as well. It has given him and I one more thing to do together and enjoy.

I hope all is well. I go back to the surgeon tomorrow for my check up. I am so ready to speak again!!!! I love you guys and thanks again for all your well wishes, they are truly appreciated.

Also, if you haven't already check out and joined the GeriFan.Com Site (link to the right side bar) you should since your's truly has been selected as the featured member of the month for October and have answered a questionaire for it as well. This site is packed. Great clips of songs and the site has now added awesome wall papers designed especially by the site owners. It only takes a few moments to complete the form, it is free. What do you have to lose? So, for all of those people who "Google" searched for Geri's new unreleased song "Ride It"...go there, not here. They have the most up to date info in regards to it.
