The War Rages On

While some of us battled the threat of Hurricane Isabel, my friend Maries brother, David, still resides in Iraq, serving in the War Against Terrorism. He called today and while only able to talk briefly, his spirits were well and he had received the care package that Marie and I had sent to him.

He had mentioned previously that the one thing that him and a few other guys missed the most was cereal. Yes, basic run of the mill american cereal. Knowing that obtaining and sending milk ro go with the cereal was impossible, we went to Sam's Club and purchased a huge variety pack of Kelloggs Breakfast cereal bars. Enough for him and his squad. Mixing in other things as well. Basic needs. Like toilet paper, chocolate bars and some well hidden/concealed cash. Ironically, the one item David enjoyed the most was the issue of PlayBoy i had purchased for him. Well... what???? I was doing my part in serving my country..you know...ensuring that the straight american soldiers have reading material.
