Let Me....Entertain You
Legendary Comedian BOB HOPE has passed away. Another one of America's very own original's has departed, but he has left many many great memories behind. He will not be forgotten. I remember as a child, he would have NBC Specials, usually on a Saturday night. Guest stars galore being part of the great Variety show type induced segments. These were one of my grandmothers few indulgences. While here, he gave of his time unselfishly supporting our troops and entertaining us all. The brand of comedy that he dished is unlike any out there today. Wholesome, clean, family oriented comedy. None today will ever come close to matching his candour, his on the spot quick wit, his kindness or sincereity. Bob Hope succumed to Pneumonia at the age of 100.
As mentioned before MADONNA AND MISSY E have signed with GAP jeans to support the fashion chains fall cord jeans for women. The campaign is called "A New Groove, A New Jean" based around the theme of the new energy of the cords and staying true to your own individual style. Tonight on ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT the two women will be followed as they shoot these 30 second/60 second commercials. Missy E quips that "if I felt I had any connection with any artist it would be Madonna. She is edgy, She's not scared to take risks and that's me on the hip rap side." I smell a future full length music collaboration in the works folks.
Ex Savage Garden front man, DARREN HAYES known for such hits as, "I Knew I Loved You (Before I Met You) and "Truly Madly Deeply", created a pop classic gem of a single with "CRUSH (1980 Me), sadly America never recognized it as they fail to do so much great music. The Brit's sure did though. I have always felt that as far as Pop music goes, Brit's have the style and taste and keen insight to notice and support great pop records. His first solo album, released last year, was "SPIN" and is a great Pop/R & B sprinkled effort. I also have a new respect for this man, inside the liner notes of "SPIN" Darren he mentions the great Stevie Nicks while thanking fellow songwriter and contributor Rick Nowels, who has worked closely with Stevie in the past. Stating " Hey Rick Nowels. It was a childhood dream to write songs with you. First time i ever heard Stevie Nicks' "Rock A Little" album (I was about 13) I knew two things. Firstly that i loved Stevie. Second, that i wanted to write songs with this guy called R. Nowels. Well, I still love Stevie and now I'm lucky enough to have created some of that magic with you and to call you a friend. Never change, never stop. You are a magician." I think a duet with Darren and Stevie would be rather interesting. One can only hope!!
