Has Madonna lost her golden touch?????

Growing up in the 1980's, Madonna was everywhere. Every girl wanted to dress like and be her, every gay guy found a woman whom they hand chose as their Dancing Queen. A woman who had self confidence, a presense that demanded to be seen, a woman of power. Many would say that Controversy catipulated Madonna's career into the stratisphere. In a way, a small part of that may be true, but with hits like "Holiday","Like A Prayer", "Vogue" and "Music" to name a few, she has a collection of hits that even in this era is continously played in clubs around the world. Her music.....has stood the test of time. Her decisiveness, persistence, business savy and crucial career calculation, has led Madonna into a career that has spanned a decade. She is today what Elvis was to his generation. She is an icon.

Unfortuantely, her last album, "American Life", was a total disappointment and in that total forgettable. The album contained no major American hit. Her music writing has reached a point of total lowness. Example being "Everybody comes to Hollywood, they want to make it in the neighborhood."
Lets not forget the "American Life " rap, "I'm drinking a soy latte,I get a double shota',i'm looking at the bodies and ya know I'm satisfied,I'm digging on the isotopes, this metaphysics shit is dope...etc etc...". One question here. What IN THE FUCK IS SHE TALKING ABOUT????? Madonna is incorporating her new age religion beliefs/rituals that no one cares a rat's ass about and speaking words that no normal person would ever hold in a real life conversation. Can you imagine having a conversation with your friends and saying "You know Jill, I'm digging on the isotopes and this metaphysics shit is dope." Jill would obviously make a few phone calls to family members and have my fat ass committed to the nearest mental ward with a vacancy. "American Life",for me proved that Madonna has taken her Electronica phase to the end. "American Life" comes across as an album that she decided to phone in instead of actually being in the recording studio recording

Madonna has publicly stated that no one can carry on her torch of music trendsetting better than mechanically/studio engineered Britney Spears. That in itself is a laughable statement. In ten years from now does one actually think they will care to remember "Hit me baby one more time." The concept of the song sounds to me to be of a woman who in enjoying her spousal abuse asks her husband to "Please, hit me baby one more time " The MTV kiss between the two of them was in no way shocking to me, hell I seen more than that in Madonna's SEX BOOK and their duet..."Me Against The Music". Oh, you havent heard it....that's ok....neither did 90% of America.

So, what's next for Madonna. One can hope she dwelves back into true dance music. Music that is once again fun and musical lyrics that doesn't involve having to have a dictionary on hand to look up words like "Isotopes" and etc.

Madonna....reclaim your throne. Take off the red yarn bracelet and for a moment set aside your yoga and give us loyal fans the music that we all know you are capable of making...and we deserve.
