Who Didn't Love This Television Character?

Flo......."Mel, Kiss My Grits!!!"

As a child, I tuned into CBS every Sunday night to watch the television show "Alice."
The main reason........to see the sassy fiery red head phoenix waitress of Mels Diner, Florence Jean Castleberry. or Flo.
To hear her say: "Mel....Kiss My Grits!!!" and "When Donkeys Fly!!!" literally had my six year old plump body rolling on the floor in a fit of laughter. My grandmother was always amazed how week after week I would laugh as if I had not heard her say those same quotes the week prior.
It saddens me a bit that those days of television are over. That my nephew and my neice do not have the same type of great comedy on televison now during their time, so when they are older they can look back on and fondly remember.
F.Y.I........I still refuse to eat grits to this day. There is something about hearing someone say to "kiss their grits"...that had me believeing that "Grits", in general, weren't something you would want to kiss.... much less actually eat.
